Ken Hobson
I joined the class in the Fall of 02 and have
enjoyed it very much. I was born in London
England and later lived on the South
Coast. In 1953 I emigrated to Canada
with my wife Rosemary and two young
daughters and ten years later came to
Alaska for  a Winter test program of a
military vechicle designed by the company
I worked for in Canada. Like many people
we fell in love with the 'Last Frontier' and
decided we would like to live here. In
1965 our wish became reality and we made the big move. I acquired a teaching
appointment at The University of Alaska Engineering School which I held for
almost twenty years. Following this I had a part-time position with the Tanana
Valley Community College (now the Tanana Valley Campus), finally retiring in
1991.
Following my wife's sudden and unexpected death in july 2002 I decided to try
my hand at oil painting. Prior to this time I had produced some rather mediocre
water colors. Rosemary was skilled at oil painting and often urged me to try the
medium. Following her death I decided to do just that.
Under Jeanne DeNapoli's very competent instruction I have achieved some
measure of success.
